Biography

Jeff Bankowski is a Partner in Guidehouse and a senior leader within the State and Local Government practice.  With more than 30 years of experience, Bankowski is well versed on public sector strategy and operations.  Bankowski is known for solving complex problems and delivering transformational, impactful change across the country. 

During his career, Bankowski has worked with more than 20 state governments as well as some of the largest cities and counties in the United States.  Jeff has advised Governors and senior public officials and presented to various legislative committees on operational efficiency, grants management, enterprise risk, disaster recovery, and digital transformation.

Prior to joining Guidehouse, Bankowski served as the Chief Performance Officer for the State of Michigan.  He was publicly credited for his vital work on the systematic review of the state’s regulatory environment as well as the implementation of performance management metrics, service process optimization efforts and employee engagement programs.  During his tenure, the State received the North American Employee Engagement Award for its commitment to public sector workforce transformation.

Bankowski is a national thought leader on government transformation and is a three-time award winner as one of the Top 25 Government Consultants and Leaders as selected by The Consulting Report.  Bankowski has taught at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan and was the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) national award winner for his outstanding leadership in enhancing sound financial management legislation, regulations, practices, policies, and systems.  Bankowski served as a senior advisor to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) on its Committee on Governmental Budgeting and Fiscal Policy and was a former board member of the Executive Committee of the National Association of Chief Administrators.

Bankowski holds a MBA in change management consulting from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and accounting from the University of Michigan.
